Hey. Hi. Hello.

Welcome back kiddos, for another post from your friendly neighborhood, Mare. Today was a magical day in the city of, Nashville. The reasoning being, it was Nashville Pride! Fun fact, there was also a monster truck, motor extravaganza-thingy, as well. So, with the LGBTQA+ on one side of town and the big ol’ truck lovers on the other side of town, what could go wrong? Nothing actually went wrong.

Anyways, let’s get to it.

Shorts/similar: eBay  Bandana: Urban Outfitters Socks: 2017 Pride/similar: Urban Outfitters

My look for the day was a pair of high-waisted shorts, gifted to me from a friend. I paired them with a chunky black belt because they are a just a tad bit too big, and I didn’t want them falling off my body. Also, who doesn’t love a chunky black belt? Unfortunately, I’ve had this belt for so long that I can’t remember where it’s from. Maybe, Rue21? Forever21? For a top, I went with a bandana. Now you’re probably thinking, “Wait, really? That’s all you put on your bosom?” Okay, no one says “bosom” anymore. But, yes, that was all. With only sheer luck from the universe, and a few adjustments throughout the day, the bandana managed to stay in place. However, I think it would’ve been fine if one of the girls had decided to make a surprise appearance. It’s pride! Everyone loves a good nip slip. #freethenipple

Might I add the dingy, dirty converse for shoes. Easily replicated.

  • Step 1: buy a pair of converse in your choice of color.
  • Step 2: wear them for 5 plus years or more, ignoring holes and tears. And I mean everywhere: waterfalls, restaurants, you name it.
  • Step 3: only wash them one or two times.

There you go, that’s it. A good ol’ pair of adventure shoes.

I went to Nash Pride with two of my very dear friends, Natasha and Felisha.

Cuties, am I right!! They’re dating, so you can’t email me asking for their numbers. Like I said before, this isn’t a dating site. (Insert a wink here for a better situational effect.)

It quickly became a game of, “How many pictures of cute dogs can Mary take?”

I mean just look

at how stinking cute

and adorable

they all are. Plus, here’s a bonus animal picture:

A baby emu. Someone brought a baby emu! How do you even go about acquiring an emu? Do you order one online? Is there an emu adoption center? Do you call your local Australian emu dealer? This is a serious question that I need an answer for. Fun fact #2 all emus support the gay community.

With large crowds of people, comes equally cool individuals. So, in addition to cute pictures of dogs, I also awkwardly asked people if I could take their photo. Most said yes.

A real life Babashook.

Two glittery bearded unicorns.

A super iconic look. Get it? Ha!

I also tried asking cute girls if I could take their picture, but most walked way too fast/ I was too intimidated to ask. A lot of people sported these cool balloon tentacle tails though.

I also saw this t-shirt a few times, which is just an overall life motto more people should adopt.

Sadly with most happy fun gaytime experiences, there are unhappy individuals who want to discourage you from being yourself. I’m referring to the anti-gay protesters.

Like this beautiful woman above says:

YOU ARE VALID AND LOVED

  • You are never a burden
  • The world is a better place with you in it
  • Don’t be ashamed of who you are
  • Gender does not define you
  • You are enough
  • Never apologize for who you are
  • There is nothing wrong with you
  • You are so so so loved

Do not let the hate from others stop you from being who you are or loving the ones you love. We are all humans regardless of gender. So, spread as much love as you possibly can. If you see someone being spiteful or vindictive, counter it with even more love and kindness. When you see someone being racist and ignorant, remember not to let their hate breed more hate. Show compassion to everyone that walks into your life. Wipe away fear and animosity with humility and generosity. Don’t let fear consume you. Learn, grow, and never settle for less than you deserve. We are the change. We are the future.

love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love

And above all, continue to be yourself no matter what anyone says. Don’t let hate crush you. Stay strong and love yourself.

That’s enough of my ramblings for today.

Until next time, kiddos.
